Organisational units are used to manage users and other resources. Users and Administrators can only view objects within their own Organisation unit.
Users, Departments, Filters, Assignments and Reports belong to the Organisational unit that created them.
The system will always contain one Default Organisation as standard. New Organisational units can be created by the Admin user of the Default Organisation.

You can set an Organisation to be Private so that it will be hidden from users in other organisations. Private Organisations are indicated by the Privateflag
When using 'Self Registration' a new user will be able to pick a public Organisation from a drop down menu. If no public Organisations are present the self registered user will be added to the Default Organisation.
